Healing Power of Dreams

The single most important conclusion I have come to in my work is that all dreams come in the service of health and wholeness...............Jeremy Taylor

Research

2009 Breast Cancer Dream Research Project

The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship among dreams and dream meaning for women with breast cancer. The expected benefit of this research is that the knowledge gained from dreams will ultimately help women cope with their cancer, fears of cancer, nightmares and negative dream imagery associated with the illness.

The goal of our research is threefold:

1) To teach Dream Therapies to Cancer patients so they can make meaning from their dreams and decrease nightmares or negative imagery when they occur.

2) To help cancer patients work with their dreams effectively because we know that dream work can decrease distress, and distress directly affects the immune system. By working with dreams we can indirectly boost the immune system of cancer patients.

3) To better understand the mind-body relationship with the dream therapies that we use so we can help program participants, but also, cancer patients in the future will also benefit from these programs and research.

The study takes the form of submitting one dream and insights from The Projective Method of Dream Interpretation which is taught and experienced in a single three-hour session. Participation is voluntary and completely anonymous. Participants are free to withdraw at any time without penalty.

This study is being conducted with breast cancer patients at any stage of survivorship in the greater Atlanta, GA and Philadelphia, PA / Wilmington, DE areas. If you are interested in participating, please contact tdreams@mindspring.com  or dreamwendy@verizon.net
